Manor Grove, a not-for-profit skilled nursing facility in Kirkwood, recently received a generous donation of musical instruments from the nonprofit charity Play It Forward in partnership with HomeWell Care Services in St. Louis.

The donation of the instruments — one full drum kit, cowbell, harmonicas, hand shakers, maracas, tambourines, djembes, hand percussion instruments and an acoustic guitar — was initially conceived by Jonathan Davis, the owner of in-home care agency HomeWell Care Services. Play It Forward, whose mission is providing musical instruments to local schools and music programs at no cost to students, parents or the schools, has expanded its reach to those in long-term care facilities as well.

Manor Grove has long been committed to enriching the lives of its residents through diverse and engaging activities, and the addition of these musical instruments promises to create an even more vibrant and joyful experience for its residents.

“We are deeply grateful to Play it Forward and Jonathan Davis for their dedication to the well-being of our residents,” said Jeanette Pence, resident liaison at Manor Grove. “Music has the remarkable ability to uplift spirits and evoke cherished memories. With these new instruments, we look forward to enhancing the lives of our residents through the joy of music.”
