HomeWell Care Services Launches Dementia Care Specialty Program
Burkburnett, Texas — October 9, 2023 — HomeWell Care Services, a leading national non-medical in-home care provider, continues to build upon its wide range of care offerings with the launch of its new Dementia Care Support. The specialty care service—unveiled in late September—is tailored to seniors with dementia to help them manage its adverse effects, including memory retention and cognitive function.
“Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia can slowly diminish one’s ability to function independently, making aging in place extremely difficult,” said Michelle Cone, SVP of Training and Brand Programs at HomeWell Franchising. “And this challenge affects not only the individual directly suffering from it but also places a tremendous burden on their families. Our new Dementia Care Support aims to assist both the care recipient who wants to maintain their independence for as long and as safely as possible and their loved ones by providing respite and much-needed peace of mind.”
Kara Holbert, RN, Director of Client Services and Program Development, has played a key role in developing the franchise’s new service, crafting its overall structure and practical application. “The effects of dementia can widely vary from client to client depending on its progression and the areas in which it has shown to be most detrimental,” said Holbert. “At HomeWell, our highest priority is always safety, a sentiment shared by the franchise’s leadership and ownership across all our agencies and clearly reflected in our new Dementia Care Support. As a result, this service is quite comprehensive to safeguard and protect the well-being of those we serve as we monitor the progression of their symptoms while promoting healthy daily routines and habits.”

Cone explains that HomeWell’s new specialty care offering was a program in development and on the franchise’s radar long before Holbert’s arrival last year.
“We’ve always served clients with memory loss and declining cognitive function, and we wanted to craft an offering uniquely designed for these individuals, but we didn’t want to rush the process of development,” shared SVP Cone. “We knew that aging in place can make all the difference in their daily efforts to establish some sense of normalcy and understanding of their environment—both of which are paramount to their physical and mental health and what would be focal points in care.
“Now, after tedious planning and research, we’re excited to provide this client-centered program that will be valuable for many home care consumers and families. This program is needed to help them experience an enhanced quality of life at home through the support and expertise of a HomeWell Care Manager and delivered by a compassionate caregiver trained to help them navigate their specific challenges.
HomeWell’s Dementia Care Support is a specialty care created for clients with Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, Vascular Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia and dementia related to Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, HIV, Crutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and Korsakoff Syndrome.
